Elevate Your Online Service: Discover the Best CRM for Your Online Business

In the digital age, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems are the backbone of successful online service providers. The right CRM can transform your business operations, making them more efficient, organized, and customer-centric. Today, we’re comparing three popular CRM options: HoneyBook, Dubsado, and Moxie, to help you choose the best fit for your business needs.

HoneyBook: Simplify and Succeed

HoneyBook stands out for its user-friendly interface and customization capabilities, making it an ideal choice for service providers looking to streamline their processes without the tech headaches. Whether you’re an event planner, a freelancer, or a consultant, HoneyBook offers a seamless way to manage clients from inquiry to invoice.

What makes HoneyBook a top choice is its ease of setup. With intuitive tools and a clear dashboard, you can get your business systems running in no time. But the real magic of HoneyBook lies in its customization options. Tailor your client communications, proposals, and contracts to reflect your brand and meet your specific needs. Moreover, HoneyBook ensures everything is linked correctly – from your calendar to payments – creating a cohesive and professional client experience.

Previously, I used Dubsado as my CRM of choice for 4 years. After I recently did a HoneyBook set up for a client, there were a few key reasons I decided to take the plunge and switch!

Pros of Switching to HoneyBook:

  • Mobile Accessibility: The mobile app enhances flexibility, enabling updates to proposals and invoices on the go. I can send and edit a proposal right from my phone! Which if you know me is helpful when you are in the car after a sales call and want to turn out the information when it is fresh!
  • Comprehensive Lead Forms: Integrates payment processing, lead generation, scheduling and automation into a single, streamlined process.
  • Efficient Team Collaboration: Simplifies collaboration with team members through task assignments and has a clear distinction between contacts and leads.
  • Quick Setup: Designed for immediate use without extensive setup time. The easy to use interface requires less of a learning curve for you.
  • Faster Payment Processing: Offers shorter deposit times, improving cash flow. You don’t need stripe or square as a processor. If you are using Thrivecart or other check out soft wares you will need those processors.
  • Unified Branding: Allows for company-wide branding across smart files, which consolidate contracts, proposals, and invoices.
  • Advanced Customization and Design: Provides better design interfaces and customization options, including linked project workspaces for a cohesive client experience.
  • Sorts your contacts: It will organize your contacts into leads vs contacts to help send out batch emails within HoneyBook.
  • Linked Project Workspaces: If you are someone who works with a client on various types of projects HoneyBook allows you to link workspaces together to help keep information organized and connected so you can utilize project dates and multiple automations.

Cons:

  • Cannot trigger workflows through Zapier: I was using this as a work around in Dubsado and I loved being able to automate a workflow trigger through a Zap, but unfortunately kicking off a workflow in Honeybook is not an action inside Zapier. We did find a work around that if you are using a checkout page like Thrivecart that you can redirect to a lead form in Honeybook as your success page to utilize scheduling and a questionnaire to kick off the workflow and create your project.
  • Harder to jump between companies, if you are a VA, OBM, or Systems consultant you cannot jump between client brands like you could in Dubsado. You constantly log in and out. Work around I found is to be logged in on different Google workspace

I am honestly so happy that our team made the switch to Honeybook as an online services provider who values customization, on the go use, and advance automations that are easy to use it was a no brainer! Dubsado: A Comprehensive Approach

Dubsado offers a robust feature set designed to cater to a wide range of business needs. From client management to scheduling and billing, Dubsado is built to handle all aspects of your business in one place. Its customization features are impressive, allowing for a high degree of personalization in forms, emails, and workflows.

However, Dubsado’s comprehensive nature might come with a steeper learning curve. For businesses with more complex needs and a readiness to invest time into setup and customization, Dubsado is a strong contender. But for those seeking simplicity and quick setup, it might feel overwhelming.

Pros:

  • Cost-Effective: Offers a competitive price point starting at $20/month.
  • Website Integration: Simplifies embedding schedulers and forms directly on your website.
  • Intuitive Project Spaces: Provides an easy-to-navigate environment for managing projects.
  • Flexible Free Trial: Allows usage with up to three clients indefinitely without time restrictions.
  • Client Portal: Facilitates the creation of a client portal to enhance client experiences.
  • Reliable Automations: Features automations that function well and provide reliable performance.

Cons:

  • Steep Learning Curve: A common challenge with Dubsado is its steep learning curve. Many users, despite having their setups done professionally (including one’s I have done myself), struggle to fully adopt the platform due to its complexity. This can lead to underutilization of the system’s features.
  • Outdated Design Interface: Although designing within Dubsado is straightforward, its interface feels bulky and outdated, especially when compared to sleeker and more customizable alternatives like HoneyBook. This can impact user experience and efficiency.
  • Invoice Limitations: Dubsado users face limitations with invoicing, particularly when setting up recurring invoices through automation. This necessitates manual intervention for each client’s billing, a significant inconvenience for those working on retainer.
  • Payment Processing Issues: Despite promises to enhance payment processing options for quicker bank deposits and acceptance of various payment methods, the initial implementation efforts by Dubsado were less than satisfactory, leading to user dissatisfaction.
  • Slow Customer Service: Timely support is crucial for any service-based platform. However, Dubsado’s customer service has been criticized for slow response times, adding to user frustrations, especially when dealing with pressing issues.
  • Lack of Significant Updates: Over the four-year period of using Dubsado, I observed a notable absence of substantial updates. This contrasts sharply with platforms like HoneyBook, where continuous improvements significantly enhance user experience.
  • No Mobile Use: This was the biggest con for me! I work on the go with 3 girls, I can’t be tied to my computer all the time, but being able to check my CRM on the go through HoneyBook has already been amazing!

Moxie: New on the Scene

Moxie, the newcomer to the CRM scene, aims to offer straightforward solutions for online service providers. With an emphasis on basic CRM functions, it’s a good starting point for those new to using business management software. While Moxie covers the essentials and offers a clean interface, it may lack the depth of features and customization that growing businesses require.

Pros:

  • All-in-One Solution: Moxie combines project management, invoicing, time tracking, and more in one platform, making it a versatile tool for freelancers.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Its simple and intuitive design makes it accessible to almost anyone, regardless of technical skill level. It is easy and quick to adopt!
  • Affordable: Moxie offers a very transparent pricing model with no hidden fees, making it an affordable option for freelancers and small businesses. Plans start at $16/month, if paid annually.
  • Efficient Workflow Automation: Features like workflow automation help save time and reduce the chances of missing deadlines.

Cons:

  • Simplicity Could Be a Limitation: While its simplicity makes Moxie user-friendly, it may not offer the in-depth features required by larger enterprises. Their project management abilities are super simplified so depending on your needs it may not work for you!
  • Limited Advanced Customization: Some users have found the platform’s customization options to be somewhat limited for advanced needs so definitely test it out before you purchase.
  • Additional Integrations May Be Needed: Certain features might require further integration with external tools, potentially complicating the setup for some users so check it’s list of integrations to see if it meets your needs depending on what tools you are using.

Making the Right Choice For YOU

Choosing the right CRM depends on your business’s specific needs, size, and growth plans. For service providers looking for an easy-to-use, customizable, and efficient system, HoneyBook stands out as the go-to choice. Its balance of simplicity, comprehensive features, and excellent customer support positions it as a powerful tool to help your business thrive.
